The final entry of this three-part series is short and sharp. It centres on how I create a safe personal space wherever I am.
You might be wondering what I mean by personal space. Simply put, it refers to my inner mind space, and roughly a one-metre radius of the physical space around me.
I’m fiercely protective of both because, fortunately and unfortunately, they exist everywhere I go. So I take conscious effort to ensure the energy within and around me stays balanced, peaceful, and nurturing – this is safe for me.
Peace is the key word here.
If a place, a conversation, or an activity disturbs my peace, I will not continue the engagement unless absolutely necessary. And when I don’t have a choice such as in work settings, I will either limit my exposure, anchor myself intentionally or chant to raise my energy level. If it comes down to it, I will not hesitate to walk away. Read this paragraph again.
I choose my peace over everything else.
To recognise when my peace has been disturbed, I’ve learnt to pay close attention to myself and my alters. This requires heightened awareness of my physical, emotional and mental energy levels.
You can also learn to sharpen your awareness through doing mindfulness exercises.
For me, the ability to feel and stay peaceful is the true luxury. It’s a quiet and powerful sign that healing has begun and that I’m emerging from this experience stronger, wiser, healthier and happier; unfazed by external factors.
I hope this three-part series has given you some structure and idea on how you can begin setting yourself up for success in your healing journey.
I may sound like a broken record at this point of time but I still want to remind you that this takes time and a lot of intentional hard work. You don’t have to do everything at once. Start with the action that has the least inertia for you and work from there. You may not see the results immediately but I guarantee you that they are already taking form. You just gotta believe, put in the work and trust the process.
With that, I’m sending you lots of love! See you in the next entry!
